Here We Go 'Round The Mulberry Bush

I'm having trouble resurrecting my old blog: www.babyonboardagain.blogspot.com so I decided to forgo the frustration of working through the system, and start a new blog instead. I don't write to win any awards, or to get on a soapbox about anything. It's just a quick and fun way to update my family and anyone else who is interested in the details of this part of my life:

And here's the lovely proof:

14 week ultrasound

Tomorrow I will be 15 weeks. I finally feel like a (slightly thicker) version of my usual self. The morning sickness and fatigue of weeks 6-12 was more than I cared to deal with and it seemed to last foreverandeverandeverandever. But in reality it was 4-6 weeks of eating misery, and trying NOT to think about or discuss things like sauteed onions, ham, sausage, beef, and tacos. The nausea and tiredness kept me indoors most of the time, resting when my boys were resting, trying to avoid places like grocery stores and restaurants, and with very little patience and understanding for a 2 year old's antics or a 9 month old's teething-related-neediness. Travis was tough through it all, though he did lose a good 10 lbs. on my no-food-in-the-house-except-saltines-and-oranges program. To his delight, once the morning sickness peaked and then disappeared, I celebrated by making barbecue meatballs and mashed potatoes. Since then I have developed a healthy craving for spaghetti, lasagna, enchiladas, and chocolate.

I went to my 14 week appointment with some of the usual apprehension that comes with pregnancy. Mainly, the big question: Is there really a baby growing inside of me? What a relief to be sent directly to the ultrasound room where a technician wasted no time in placing that cold scanner-thing on my belly and showed me a sweet image of a wiggling, lively baby. I fully expected them to change my dates and move me back a week or two like they did with both of my boys, but the technician AND the doctor said they were keeping the date the same. I'm still skeptical, and expecting them to change the date at some point. For now though, October 11th (10-11-12) is our big day. Trav's birthday is October 12th. Grandpa Philip's birthday is October 10th. So really it seems like a good week for a baby.

That's the long and short of it for now!
